Halloween Tradition #8 - Put Up a Halloween Tree
One of the best Halloween decorations you can erect inside your house is a spooky looking Halloween tree! It really adds a festive mood to your home and can look hauntingly beautiful!

Halloween TreeIt can be any size from a small tabletop decoration, to a full size haunted tree. Your Halloween tree can be store-bought or homemade and there are lots and lots of creepy things that can be used as tree decorations and ornaments.

Some store bought tree's come pre-lit with mini-lights, or you can decorate your homemade tree with strings of lights or paint it with glow-in-the-dark paint and illuminate it with a black light. For examples of Halloween Tree's, visit Halloween Online's Halloween Decorations section.

Pick out a special corner or area of a room to put up your tree. It should be somewhere that the family can see it while they relax, maybe in the same place that you put up a Christmas tree. If you have a fire place, you may just want to get something that can sit on the mantel. Decorate the whole mantel using the tree as the center piece.

Then decide what kind of tree you would like, a store bought type or, if you want, make one yourself. Making one consists of going out and looking for a small dead tree or large tree branch. Using a Christmas tree stand, you can spray paint it black and after you've applied a few coats of spray it can be decorated using any small Halloween items that you can find.

We have a large dining area in our kitchen with a bay window. We usually set this area aside for our indoor Halloween Tree scene. Using plastic fencing, Spanish moss and other props, we make a whole scene around our Halloween Tree every year. We take a leaf out of the table, which gives us room to add our little area. It's surprising how that will draw everyone to the dinner table during October! We eat dinner basking in the orange and purple glow of the tree lights and just admire the scene. You can go here to see pictures of what we do.

It doesn't have to be elaborate, it can be as simple as a small table top tree but adding a Halloween Tree to your home decorations each year just seems to make things cheerier!
